On April 24, 2018, has been published the long-awaited ASHRAE Standard 209-2018, Energy Simulation Aided Design for Buildings except Low Rise Residential Buildings, which describes the most beneficial use of energy modeling for any constructions. I believe that it is a great reference for energy modeler however, it is not tomorrow that all projects will comply to this standard of using energy model to inform and optimize the design through 11 cycles from early concept to post-occupancy.

The ideal project management software will not only have to tick all your boxes in terms of features you’ve pencilled in. It will have to fit in the way that you do business and support your decisions to stick to established structures.

It's interesting to know that energy models would be used as documentation compliance for being a green building. I would love for my future home to be something that will not negatively affect the environment. In that case, it would be a good idea to hire contractors who believe in choosing environmentally-friendly products. After they construct my house, I'll make sure to hire building certifiers to double-check the whole property.
